Buying Nike pre-owned
More of what we buy carries this name than any other, which means we turn a lot of it down. The two things that decide a Nike pair for us are the midsole and the heel counter: foam that has taken years of walking goes firm and stops springing back, and you can feel it through the sidewall with a thumb before you ever look at the tread.
Air units are worth looking at closely in the photographs. A visible unit that has been punctured loses its cushioning and never gets it back, and the give-away is a crease that has gone hard and pale rather than the soft flex lines a healthy unit keeps. Where a pair has one, we photograph it.
Knitted uppers wear differently from leather ones. Flyknit and its relatives hold their shape well but fray where the foot flexes at the small toe, and that fray is in the photographs and in the words if it is there at all.
Whatever is written here, the number we publish on a pair is the one we measured on that object. What our condition ratings mean.
