Buying AND1 pre-owned
Basketball shoes, and a used basketball shoe is read differently from a used runner. It has been worn on a hard indoor court, which polishes the outsole smooth without removing much depth, so a pair can look finished from underneath and have most of its grip left.
What does finish them is the lateral support. These are built to resist a foot sliding sideways, and once the panel above the midsole on the outside edge has stretched, the shoe stops doing the one job it was made for. We push against that panel by hand on every pair and a soft one does not reach the shelf.
The uppers are often synthetic leather, which cleans up better than real leather and cracks sooner. Where the surface has started to lift we photograph it close up rather than at an angle.
